the specialness of kids:

1. a boy stopped to talk to me today since I mentioned in an e-mail that I was leaving the organization and the country. Although I rarely interact with him, he said he was going to miss me, and it sounded sincere.

2. a 17 year old dishing out food told his co-worker to give me a bigger portion because I was "staff". He was looking out for me the last time I ate there too.

3. A 10 year old girl ran up to me when she came to work and gave me a huge hug in greeting. She knows my name, but I know nothing about her.

4. a 16 year old said he'd make me a cereal bowl in his ceramics class as a good bye gift.

5. a 19 year old requested that I look at her photographs and select the best ones for a photo contest she was entering.

6. the friendly hellos, calling me by name, as I walk by, though the majority of them I cannot even remember their names.
